A Higher Purpose…
Friends and Family, I have formerly given my notice of resignation at work and am bidding farewell to Wall Street. Over the next 12 months I will embark on a journey to explore foreign lands, eat unique foods, and connect with people.
During my travels my goal is to paint a single person I meet each day and tell their story. The people who pose for me can keep the paintings but by the end of my trip I hope to have a collection of stories, experiences, and skills to bring back home… and to have my paintings spread across the world.
If you are reading this and are in a distant country and would like to meet or host me (even for a night) let me know. I will be carrying a 3-season tent, a warm sleeping bag, and an inflatable mattress so even a space on the floor or backyard would work. I haven’t planned the stops of my trip (I never do) so am open to visiting anywhere but hope to follow the warm weather. I will paint you in return for hosting me. I haven’t decided my first stop yet but am leaning towards Israel.
As for my booming pickle business, I have no choice but to pause production at the end of March. However, upon my return there’s a good chance I will come back and dedicate myself to creating a pickle business filled with great and unique recipes from wise babushki from across the world. If you are interested in being added to my “future pickle waitlist” let me know, if this waitlist becomes ridiculously long, it will help me decide if I should dedicate myself to creating a full-fledged pickle business when I return.
In order to keep track of this journey, my artwork, and the stories people will share with me, I have created a blog that I hope will serve as a beacon of light on the shadow of everyday existence. I will also give practical travel advice for those of you who want to experience life on the edge. If I strike a chord with you, please spread the word, share my posts and follow my experience.
I will try my best to make my blog as practical and useful as possible, while keeping it entertaining to people of all races, genders, and ages. As of right now the link is tentatively: Bukharian.travel.blog
I expect to leave NYC at the end of March / early April. I’ll probably throw a going away party and will let everyone know about it. Anyways, I hope my journey inspires you, as much as it inspires me.
With much love, amor, lyubof,
Uncle Edik
